Hello there! At the moment I have only heard speculation and rumours regarding the end of KERA, so I’m afraid I couldn’t possibly give you any definite answer. I did hear that they are thinking of publishing in France, so who knows?

I'm a big fan of your blog-your outfits are always so beautiful and original, and your writing style is so cute :) It's fun hearing about all your adventures in Tokyo. I also really like the lyricism of your name and was wondering (if you don't mind me asking) about its origin? Thanks, Thea

Hello Thea! Thanks for your lovely message and for saying so many kind things :) I’m always so happy to hear that people enjoy reading my blog, it motivates me to try to make it more interesting and post more often!

About my name, I think not everyone knows that Sapphira is my real name and not just an online handle, but it’s actually the one my parents gave me. My mother was the one who found it in a book of baby names. My father is English and my mother was born in Singapore to a Sri Lankan father and an Indonesian mother, so because I would come from such a complicated background she was searching for a name that could fit in almost any culture.

Sapphira is a biblical name, though it’s not one that’s very well known. It means sapphire (as you can probably guess), lapis lazuli, or beauty. I like having a name that has a long history, even if the story of the biblical Sapphira is not a very nice one!

Basically Sapphira and her husband lie to Peter, saying they have donated to the temple all of the money they gained by selling some land, when in fact they’ve kept some back for themselves. The cost for their dishonesty is their lives. There are a lot of beautiful or interesting stories in the bible, but I think this one is horrid! Still, it certainly puts me off any greedy or dishonest behavior…

While costumes in films are extremely important in helping to define a character, it is not often that a costume is actually a direct part of the story or plot.  This green bonnet plays an important role in a scene from Gone with the Wind. In both the film and the novel, it is the piece of clothing that Rhett Butler uses to tempt Scarlett O’hara out of mourning far earlier than appropriate. Mitchell writes of the bonnet:

It was of dark-green taffeta, lined with water silk of a pale-jade color. The ribbons that tied under the chin were as wide as her hand and they, too, were pale green. And, curled about the brim of this confection was the perkiest of green ostrich plumes.

The hat was re-created by designer Walter Plunkett for the 1939 production of Gone with the Wind, where it was worn on Vivien Leigh as Scarlett O’Hara.  The piece would be used again in 1941 in Go West Young Lady on Penny Singleton as Belinda Pendergast.  In 1942 it was worn without the ribbons on Helen Parrish as Ellen Sanford in the film In Old California.
